![]() |
Alexander Emmanuel “Alex” Rodriguez (Nicknamed A-Rod) recently became the youngest of seven players in Major League Baseball history to hit 600 home runs.
Born on July 27, 1975, Alex Rodriguez is an American Major League Baseball third baseman for the New York Yankees. He was previously a part of Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers. A-Rod rewrote history books by becoming the youngest baseball player ever to hit 500 runs, previously held by Jimmie Foxx, and record for the youngest baseball player ever to hit 600 runs, previously held by Babe Ruth.
Alex Rodriguez came on the covers of all newspapers and magazines when he was signed by the Yankees for a 10-year, $275 million contract that was billed as the richest contract in the history of baseball. However, the life of A-Rod is not without bitter moments. He won the Players Choice Award for Outstanding AL Player on 24th October 2007 and Players Choice Award for Player of the Year on 27th October the same year. On November 19, 2007, Rodriguez was named the American League Most Valuable Player award for the third time in his career.
Rodriguez was accused of making use of performance enhancing drugs, which he vehemently denied in the past. But in a 2007 interview, Alex Rodriguez admitted to using steroids from 2001 to 2003 when he was a part of the Texan Rangers. He was linked to celebrities like Madonna, Kate Hudson, and Cameron Diaz. A report published in the Daily News suggested that A-Rod patronized prostitutes of Madam Kristin Davis and dated Davis as well during 2006 and 2007. However, the baseball slugger has now moved away from his past and back to his best – hitting huge home runs.
