So you have decided to hike alone. You may be advised not to trudge without a companion. We would not suggest you the same thing. Hiking alone has got its own enjoyment and thrill, provided you take all the safety precautions. Here are a few hiking tips that you should follow to make the trip enjoyable and safe.
Inform your family about your journey:
Tell your loved ones where you are going and when you should be expected to come back. Provide your family the route map of your journey so that they will become familiar with the area. There are many satellite phones, personal tracker systems available in the stores these days which are specially designed to carry them when you doing such adventurous sport. Purchase one of them and carry it with you.
Do not change the route:
You should be well planned where to go and when should you return. You should always make sure that the route map that you left at your home should be followed. You should never change your route. Take your food and water:
Carry more quantity of water you need and don’t forget to take water purification iodine or filters. Take sufficient energy foods with you. The whole journey will become miserable if you do not carry enough food and water.
Your sleeping gear:
Ensure that the space blanket that you carry does not add much weight. Take an ensulite pad as well. You won’t freeze to death if you carry both the sleeping gears with you.
Flashlight is a must-have:
Without a flashlight, you will tumble down in the rocky regions while you hike. Get a bright and long lasting flashlight.
First aid box:
How can you forget your first aid kit when you are hiking all alone? Your first aid box should definitely contain aspirin, a roll of bandage, anti septics and anti biotic.
