Mickey Arthur, the South Africa coach, is now talking about taking chances against Australia. He wants his team to take advantage of the Kangaroos side which has shattered in the series against India. Arthur believes that the loss of series has made Aussies loose its confidence and it is a better chance for South Africa to defeat them in the three-Test series that starts on December 17. The failure to maintain its style had made Australia to fail the defending of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India had defeated them 2-0 in the four-Test series and Arthur felt this was South Africa’s best chance of beating them in a Test series. South Africa has never succeeded in beating Aussies in a Test series since its return to international cricket in 1991.

While speaking to press Arthur expressed his feeling that Aussies is undoubtedly battle-hardened, but now is bruised both physically and emotionally. He was seen confident of his team’s victory against the unofficial Test champions.

South Africa will play two Tests at home against Bangladesh, starting on Wednesday, in the build-up to their Australian visit. The South African coach is however, confident his teams capacity to win the three back-to-back Tests.

Arthur said that the team is fit, strong, well conditioned and not feeling overworked or jaded, making it confident of its chances in Aussies soil.

Mark Boucher, the wicketkeeper, who was also present with Arthur, echoed the team’s ambitions of ending the jinx against Australia. He added that the confidence of the team has gone up after the Test series win in England this summer.

Boucher also added that the team has three goals; to win a series in England , to beat Australia and to win the World Cup. Already having done the first , the attempts now are on to perform the rest two goals.
