The mesmerizing performance by Yuvraj Singh at Rajkot against England has allured the British media along with cricket lovers. The media in London has declared that Friday’s humiliating loss is ringing dead bells for Kevin Pietersen’s honeymoon period as skipper. “India batter England into submission,” says ‘Daily Mail’ after England lossing the first ODI of the seven-match series by a massive 158 runs.
Yuvraj in spite f his battle with a back pain scored a ton with the support of a runner. He made 138-run knock in the match. The ‘Daily Mail’, a widely-circulated tabloid called the left-hander’s performance as amazing and wondered what he might have done to be in full fitness.

England was taken aback by a brilliant performance from a batsman who was supposed to be struggling with injury. Yuvraj Singh had to call for a runner when he reached 37 after pulling a muscle in his back and then moved to race to the second fastest one-day international hundred by an Indian and the eighth fastest in all. A powerful display of brutal but controlled hitting that saw England concede their highest 50-over total. The tabloid adds that only Lord will know what he will do when he is fit.

The ‘Daily Telegraph’ feels that the defeat is a warning for new skipper Pietersen, who was having a successful time until now with an impressive ODI series win over South Africa.The newspaper lauded Yuvraj’s performance and even went to the extent of comparing him with the West Indian great Gary Sobers in his shot selection.

‘The Guardian’ has commented that the performance is a proof of Yuvraj replacing retired Sourav Ganguly in the Indian middle order. It shared the feel that Yuvraj is the natural heir to Ganguly and even declared that “Kevin Pietersen may loose his captaincy very soon.
