Comments Playing negative is a tactic
One of the first things that we came to know from the final of the Welsh open, between Mark Selby and Ronnie O’Sullivan, one of the world’s best in snooker is that, if you are competing at the topmost level for the topmost prize, playing a negative game helps. After trailing 8-5, Selby won the last four frames and was able to secure his first world ranking title.
Selby on his part admitted that and said, “There’s not many who can compete with Ronnie and his break building. And if you can’t compete with him like that you have to revert to Plan B.” Although Selby was not at his best at the final he was overjoyed o have won coming from behind and using a tactic that he had never done before. As he was asked about the game he said that “If you think you’ve got to win four frames on the trot against Ronnie O’Sullivan then it’s a big ask but if you just think ‘take one frame at a time and you never know’ and thankfully I came through it.”
It was a match that truly had the nerves and it was just tactic that made Selby achieve victory over his opponent.
