Davydenko Beats Murray
![]() |
Nikolay Davydenko is now in his full form. He has reached the Masters Cup final by thrashing out Andy Murray by 7-5, 6-2 on Saturday. Murray was seen exhausted after the game with Roger Federer a day earlier. Davydenko after the game told reporters that Murray was seen exhausted and looked as if he was ready “to die.” The Russian will play against Novak Djokovic on Sunday, who earlier rallied to oust Gilles Simon of France for 4-6, 6-3, and 7-5.
Murray had gone all against Federer even though he already had found a berth in the semi finals. He added that he gave 100 percent against Davydenko, but lack of proper rest after the game made him exhausted.
“I beat probably the best player of all time,” Murray said.
“I have no regrets about doing that. To beat him … means a similar amount to winning a tournament like this. Ideally, I would have liked to have beaten him easier … and given myself a slightly better chance to prepare for this match.” Murray added that he is not looking for any excuses. Davydenko won because he played well than me and I accept that; told Murray. He feels that the final will be a rematch of a round-robin match this week.
Davydenko has been in top five for long time, but was unsuccessful in making it up to a Grand Slam final. He’s been to the Masters three times before. But now seems he is back to avenge for everything happened in past.
Both players were seen struggling with their serve early. Murray served at 5-5 and went up 40-15, but was seen later swinging his racket in anger as Davydenko started pulling to deuce. Djokovic had earlier lost all three of his matches at the last Masters Cup. But this time he is confident to lifting the cup to Russia.
