Jacques Kallis - One of the best cricketers in world cricket
![]() |
Jacques Henry Kallis, popularly known as Jacques Kallis, is one of the very few cricketers at the international stage who command respect from all quarters of the cricket fraternity. Born on 16 October 1975 in Pinelands (Cape Town, South Africa), Kallis is a formidable right-handed batsman and fast-medium swing bowler.
Jacques Kallis made his test debut against England on 14th December, 1985 and ODI debut against the same country on 9th January, 1996. The South African cricketer is the only cricket player in the history of the game to score more than 10,000 runs and took 250 wickets in both one day and Test match cricket. Jacques Kallis is also one of only four players in Test history to make a century in five consecutive matches (other three being Sir Donald Bradman, Mohammad Yousuf, and Gautam Gambhir).
A dependable batsman and a bowler in testing times, Kallis is considered by one and all as the one of the most reliable all-rounders that the South African side has in its armory. Kallis has played for some of the best cricket teams in the world - South Africa, Africa XI, Cape Cobras, Glamorgan, ICC World XI, Middlesex, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Warriors, and Western Province in his illustrious career.
Till now, the crafty batsman from South Africa has scored 11,449 runs in 142 tests and 11,002 runs in 307 one day internationals at averages of 55.84 and 45.84, respectively that speak huge volumes about the talent of this calm and stylish batsman. Kallis has also taken 267 wickets and 259 wickets in tests and one day internationals, respectively. In the slips, the sure handedness and rattlesnake reflexes of Jacques Kallis make ridiculous catches look regulation.
