Krejza Misses Tendulkar Twice; But Says He is Happy
![]() |
The Aussies debutant Jason Krejza may not forget this day. The off spinner who made his entry into Test cricket today at Nagpur had two catches of Sachin Tendulkar dropped off his bowling. But he sounded pleased with his overall end-of-the-day haul of three wickets in the fourth and final Test against India here today. He calls it a good chance to play for Australia.
“In the beginning I had a bout of nerves but kept it down”, says Krejza. But he thanks the six weeks stay in India (as part of the visiting team), which helped him in preparing for the day.
“It was an enjoyable to get a couple of wickets. I couldn’t have asked for more,” says the off spinner who had hoped of being a fast bowler at the age of 13.
The master blaster was dropped at deep mid off when on 85 and 96 off Krejza before he finished his 40th Test ton (109) on the first day of the series decider. Krejza was opted for the place of pacer Stuart Clark as the newly built VCA stadium is a spin friendly one. He says that he was prepared for the assault he faced from the Indian batsmen, especially Virender Sehwag.
Krejza said after the match that he was expecting the batsmen to go on fury in the first over itself. But he got over it and managed to keep the head on my shoulders. The Tasmanian player ended up with 3 for 138, which is not a bad figure. India ended up the first day at 311 for five.
Debutant Krejza is happy that he was able to take advantage of some footmarks while ending up with a three-wicket haul. He feels the pitch to be a bit tough. He is looking forward for the next day to show his belligerence on the ground against the host.
