Lance Armstrong - The Living Cycling Great

Lance Edward Armstrong, born on September 18, 1971 as Lance Edward Gunderson and popularly known as Lance Armstrong, is one of the living legends of cycling. The American professional road racing cyclist is an admired name in the world of professional cycling having won the Tour de France a record seven consecutive times after being down with testicular cancer.
Lance Armstrong has been an idol for many who admired him for his combination and interaction of his genetic endowment, years of incredible training, competitive experience, the never-say-die attitude, and obsessive drive to achieve and persevere.
Armstrong gained popularity when he won his first race with Motorola, the Trophee Laigueglia in Italy, beating the favourite Moreno Argentin.
He has been a part of some of the most respected and successful cycling teams such as Motorola, Cofidis, US Postal, Astana, and Team Radioshack. Armstrong rides for UCI ProTour team, Team RadioShack, and was adjudged the ABC Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year in 1999 and Prince of Asturias Award in Sports in 2000. In 2002, Sports Illustrated magazine named Lance Armstrong Sportsman of the Year. The list of awards and recognition does not end here. The cycling champion received ESPN’s ESPY Award for Best Male Athlete in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006, and won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Overseas Personality Award in 2003.
The cycling great, Lance Armstrong, may have been accused of using performance enhancing drugs and indulging into blood doping but he has always came clean, a testament of the fact that he is a living legend indeed.
