![]() |
England captain Kevin Pietersen is seen made up his mind to return to India for the two-Test cricket series starting December 11. The English cricket left India soon after the Mumbai terror attack last Friday. But it is known that his enthusiasm to come back to India is not shared by some of his team mates. Andrew Flintoff and pacer Steve Harmison are likely to pull out of the series calling it unsafe.
The English team decided to cut short the seven-match ODI series soon after the terrific terror attacks hit on Mumbai. They arrived at London on Saturday night.
But with both the England and
The Indian cricket board having mutually agreed to go ahead with the Test series, the players are seen not willing to join hands with the cricket board. The venue for the first Test has been shifted from Mumbai to the southern city of Chennai, which the authorities say is safe from any attacks.
Pietersen was initially seen reluctant for a come back to India.
According to an English tabloid, the English skipper has apparently made up his mind and has confirmed that he may return to India provided England gets full assurances over their security. But there are also reports that Harmison and Flintoff, along with another bowler in the squad of 15 may pull out in the next two days, citing family as the prime consideration.
Hugh Morris, managing director of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), said on Saturday that there would be no penalties on the players if they decide to pull out, taking their feelings and emotions into consideration.
Morris said that they will consider the visit only if got any solid assurance from the authorities regarding the security of the players. The ECB will be meeting soon to discuss the security issues, but it is expected that England will be back soon to play the two Tests.
