Comment Waqar Younis: The Lord of Swing

Waqar Younis, the former Pakistan cricketer is known for his fast bowling. Born as Waqar Younis Maitla, this right arm fast pacer is known for his ability to reverse swing te ball. He has taken 373 Test wickets and 416 ODI wickets in his career.
Waqar made his debut for Pakistan in 1989. In the first series against India, he made an immediate impression with his pace, and became known in the media as the “Burewala Express”. Waqar opened bowling regularly for Pakistan along with Wasim Akram and became a feared and potent attack.
He was well known for his recognized delivery was an in-swinging yorker. Waqar in the peak of his career developed into a devastating bowler towards the closing stages of the one day game. He took a hat-trick against South Africa in 1992. In the late 90’s controversies started surrounding him, which made him to stay out of the team for some time. He alkso got into conflicts with then captain Wasim Akram. He made a comeback and was appointed the captain of Pakistan teamBut as a captain, he was a failure. His failure to create an impact in the 2003 World Cup paved his exit from the team. He retired after the Pakistan Cricket Board turned eyes away from him for national selection. He became the bowling coach for Pakistan in 2006, but resigned from the post in 2007 as a protest against the PCB’s decision to retain him only for the Test series against South Africa.
Waqar is known for his effective use of reverse swing. He along with Akram spearheaded the Pakistan bowling attack in the early to mid 90’s. In 1992 series against England, the English media, cried of foul play and allegations of ball-tampering against him.
Waqar also has scored 1010 Test runs. He has become a television cricket commentator for an Australian channel recently.
